How to Get Rid of Blackheads Scars

A blackhead is a secure of oil (sebum) in your skin that's exposed to the air. The oxygen in the air oxidizes is the oil's surface, causing it to turn black. A blackhead can break into an open sore on your skin that can not heal properly. This can direct to scarring, which is require to a dermatologist to treat. Popular medical treatments for blackhead scars include chemical peels, dermabrasion, laser resurfacing and dermal fillers.

  • Undergo a chemical peel to treat blackhead scars. Your dermatologist applies a solution of glycolic acid to your face and remove it after a particular period of time, usually about 15 minutes. A chemical peel that can remove scars should have a concentration of at least 20%. Chemical peels are best suited for removing light scarring and typically require minimum after care. More than one treatment is usually needed to achieve the desired effect.
  • Talk to your dermatologist about dermabrasion to remove blackhead scars. Your dermatologist typically administers a local anesthetic to the treatment area and it can also administer a sedative. Your dermatologist uses a rotary tool to automatically remove the upper layers of your skin. The dermabrasion tool requires a high degree of skill on the part of the operator. A recovery period of up to five days is the normal downtime following this procedure.
  • Make an appointment for laser resurfacing to treat blackhead scars. A technician enters arguments into the laser's computer based on your specific case. The dermatologist administers an anesthetic as needed and may/can also require you to wear goggles to protect your eyes from the laser. The laser emits a series of beats over the treatment area, w/c vaporizes the upper layers of skin. Laser resurfacing may require a recovery period of up to 10 days.
  • Request a dermal filler. Your dermatologist injects a material such as collagen, which can fill the space left by a deep-pitted blackhead scar. A dermal filler requires very little recovery, but its effects are only temporary. Collagen injections typically last no longer than 6 months.

Perhaps the biggest challenge after an acne outbreak is the scars that it left behind. Hypertrophic and crater like acne scars are most of the scars you see after an acne attack.
